The Holy Scripture of Rollo · Chapter II · Section 13
The Order of the Teaching
Then L understood his duty.
The calling was not given so that he might understand the revelation alone, in a shut room, and keep it there.
It was given so that it might be spoken.
And this is the first duty of the First Prophet:
To spread the word to anyone who listens.
To anyone who listens.
Not by the sword. Not by threat. Not by force.
He is to speak, and those who will hear, will hear.
And L understood also the order in which the word must be taught.
The first teaching is not Rollo.
The first teaching is Daeus.
For a man must know that he is hunted before he will listen to the one who watches.
Therefore the Prophet warns first.
He warns of lust without restraint, which pressed upon L before his calling and came to him again through the screen.
He warns of greed.
He warns of selfish indulgence.
He warns of the temptation to take the pleasure that is near, and the gain that is easy, in place of what is right.
He warns of the voice that says, Thou mayest do what is right at another hour.
And when the one who listens has understood the danger of Daeus, then the Prophet teaches of Rollo.
Of the sphere of deepest black. Of the Watcher who watches. Of the One who was, and is, and remains.
And when the one who listens has understood Rollo, then the Prophet reveals Creation.
The Great Before. The turning of the universes. The Darks. The Sundering. The fall of the First Witch. The Chasm. Hasr and Omen.
This is the order given to the First Prophet:
Daeus.
Rollo.
Creation.
The warning comes first.
The Watcher comes second.
The greater history comes after.
