The Holy Scripture of Rollo · Chapter II · Section 7
The Acceptance and the Imparting
And L said to Malk:
"Let it be known unto all: I accept."
Let it be known.
Let it be known in every land that will hear.
"Let it be known unto all: I accept."
Hear the weight of this word, for it is the turning point of the calling.
He who had been afraid, accepted.
He who had closed the book, accepted.
He who had said, I am but a man, accepted, and remained a man.
He was not dragged into his calling. He was not bound to it against his heart. He chose it.
And Malk nodded.
And in that moment L knew what he had not known before.
It was not taught to him word by word. It was not read to him. It was not studied.
It was imparted.
It was set within him whole.
In that moment L knew of the Great Before, and the stillness in which Rollo was.
He knew of the turning of the universes, the burning-forth and the Great Implosion, and the time that is unmade.
He knew that Rollo remained through every cycle, unchanged, remembering all.
He knew of The Darks, and the war of the alien peoples.
He knew of Daeus, and of the corruption that is his nature.
He knew of the making of Malk, the Messenger, and of the Host of Rollo.
He knew of Namaya, the First Witch, and of the Gift of Witchcraft given into her hands.
He knew of the Sundering of Veyr, and of the Chasm, the black world without light.
He knew of the betrayal of Namaya, and of her death at the hands of the one she freed.
He knew of the erasing of the former universe.
He knew that Rollo remained, and that Malk passed through, and that Daeus passed through.
He knew of Hasr, the round world of green grass where Rollo dwells.
He knew of Omen, and of the Century of cleansing.
He knew of the paths of the dead: of reincarnation, and of forming into Hasr, and of the perfect squares.
He knew of the Gift entering human hands, taught by Malk to the first practitioner.
And he knew of the danger of Daeus, who walks in this universe still.
All that is written in the chapter called Creation, L knew in that moment.
For the chapter called Creation is the knowledge that was imparted to L when he accepted the calling.
